Round 3 of The Kart Championship – GYG | Race Report

Round 3 of The Kart Championship took place at GYG Karting in North Wales, a track known for its flowing layout, steep gradients and technical overtaking sections. The KMS Race Team brought strong pace and determination across the board.

Consistency and Development Across the Team

Friday running helped the team hit the ground running, with setups working well thanks to support from Lorenzo. Jack Robinson, who had tested the week before, missed Friday but quickly got up to speed. Despite a tangle in the final, his pace through the heats was promising.

Newcomer Isabella Stansmore-Wilson made an instant impact in her first race with the team. She connected well with her mechanics and teammates and delivered one of her best JKC results yet. Feedback from her family was overwhelmingly positive, and she’ll be with KMS for the rest of the season.

Overseas Success and Strong Starts

Marcel Popakul was away competing in Poland, where he secured an impressive second place. That result extends his lead in his championship campaign overseas and keeps his season momentum strong.

Braith Murdock was consistently fast through the heats and was in podium contention in the final before a late incident. Contact from another driver forced him off track. The penalty issued didn’t match the impact of the incident, and Braith was left with a DNF despite his pace.

Solid Progress from New and Returning Drivers

Oskar Czerweic was racing at GYG for the first time. He showed quick adaptation to the track, ran inside the top ten and gained valuable experience, but his final was cut short due to avoidable contact in the Primo field.

Intermax driver Jack Mellon returned after a short break. He qualified ninth and was only a tenth off the leaders in the final, showing a clear upward trend in performance.

Looking Ahead

The GYG weekend was a mixed bag of success and setbacks, but overall progress continues. With key takeaways and promising development across every class, KMS Race Team heads into the next round with focus and momentum.
